A trick from Milan for higher profits…

Have you ever been to a restaurant where, after reading the menu back to front several times, you just didn’t know what to order? It can be frustrating at times… I mean, I like those scrumptious, lip-smacking meal descriptions that titillate your senses and make your heart beat with anticipation. Only problem, some menus are not accurate and even misleading. Worse still, imagine trying to figure out a menu that’s in a language you don’t understand.

I didn’t have to worry about that during my recent trip to Milan, Italy. Here’s what I saw -

restaurant menu milan, italy

Cool menu? Pretty cool. Especially for someone like me who speaks no Italian! Ordering a meal is a heck of a lot easier when you can SEE a professional colour photo next to the meal’s description. I think the Italians are not only great cooks, they also understand how to make it easy for people to do business with them.

How many restaurants in Australia do you know of that actually do that? No matter. What about YOUR business? How can you adapt that concept to your business? How can you make it easier for people to buy from you.

With that in mind, here’s another one…

sale sign designer outlet

That was just a simple sign in a designer outlet in Ostrovia, Poland letting you know that there is a sale going on. But it’s not just a sign. It’s a multi-language communication tool. It communicates a simple message “sale”. But, it does that in 12 different languages. A cool idea? You bet. The thing is that if you don’t speak any Polish, chances are that you can speak or at least understand one of the other eleven languages. What part of this concept can you adapt to your business?

So, how can you make it EASIER for people to do business with you?

Here are some questions to get you started. Ask yourself -

How can I make it easier for people to find me online … to buy from me … to pay for my products or services … to order from my website … to navigate through my website … to refer their friends to me … to choose the right products for them … to understand the final outcome or benefit of using my product or service? I think you get the idea.

A great exercise is to ask your existing clients WHY they do business with you. What they like about your business and what they feel could be improved.

Keep in mind that today, with information overload, people are more busy than ever. If you want to increase profits you need to focus on little things that make all the difference. Those little things will help people save time by making their every transaction with you easy, effortless and automatic. By making it easier for people to do business with you more people should spend more money with you more often.
